It's not cool to be catabolic too long or too often!

After you run, lift, swim or whatever else you do to break a sweat, your body is in break down mode or in a catabolic state.  Catabolism is the metabolic breakdown of complex molecules into simpler ones, often resulting in a release of energy.  When your body is catabolic, it is breaking down, rather than repairing tissue.
